Telica Volcano Sunset

Guided crater-rim hike for Nicaragua's most dramatic golden hour.
From $45 per person
Overview
Telica is one of Nicaragua's most active volcanoes — and at sunset, it's pure theatre. You'll ride by 4×4 to the trailhead, hike up loose volcanic rock to the crater rim, and watch the light fall across the Maribios range and Pacific plains as steam drifts from the crater below. After sunset, we descend under the stars and return to León for dinner — a complete "big moment" experience that fits easily into your itinerary.

Practical tips & safety
- Hike difficulty: Moderate uphill on loose volcanic rock. A steady pace works for most reasonably fit travellers.
- Bumpy roads: 4×4 access is rough — consider motion-sickness tablets if you're sensitive.
- What to bring: Headlamp (essential), sturdy boots, 1–2L water, hat, sunscreen, repellent, a light warm layer (it cools after sunset), and a camera/phone strap.
- Volcanic activity: Telica is active. We monitor conditions closely and may adjust plans for safety.
